Colin Baker will be touring with the Crime and Comedy Theatre Company this Autumn as the world’s greatest detective in The Hound of the Baskervilles
Doctor Who’s Colin Baker will be taking to stages across the United Kingdom this Autumn as Sherlock Holmes. He’ll be starring in the Crime and Comedy Theatre Company’s new production of perhaps the most iconic Holmes story of all: The Hound of the Baskervilles. He’ll also be joined by his Revelation of the Daleks co-star Terry Molloy, who played Davros throughout the 1980s, as the ever dependable Dr. Watson. It also features Dee Sadler, who starred as Flowerchild in The Greatest Show in the Galaxy. The new production is described as a radio drama, live on stage. It follows the grand tradition of radio plays recorded ‘as live’ on stage in front of studio audiences.
One of the most famous detective novels of all time, the often adapted Hound of the Baskervilles sees the legendary Sherlock Holmes leave his usual hunting ground of London for the wilds of Dartmoor. Sir Charles Baskerville is dead, while his distant heir Sir Henry is freshly arrived from America to take up the ancient Baskerville Hall. But Sir Charles’ friend Dr. Mortimer believes Sir Henry’s life is also in danger, engaging Holmes and Watson to take on the case. But can there really be a connection to the legend of a huge spectral hound who preys upon the Baskerville line?
Soon Watson has arrived to act as Sir Henry’s bodyguard. But there’s no shortage of potential suspects, along with an escaped convict on the loose, a cryptic travelling beggar… and from across the moonlit moors comes the baleful howls of a gigantic hound…
