You can hear Peter Capaldi’s Sweet Illusions next Spring, while new single Bin Night is out next week
Peter Capaldi continues to show himself as one of the most multi-faceted talents to ever lead Doctor Who. Not just an actor, but a director, screenwriter, painter, cartoonist, song writer, singer, and musician, his next project is his second solo album Sweet Illusions. It follows 2021’s St Christopher and a 1980 EP with his then band, The Dreamboys.
The 11 track Sweet Illusions is out on the 28th of March, 2025. But you can pre-order now from record label Last Night from Glasgow. Meanwhile, the first single, the gentle and whimsical Bin Night, is out on the 20th of September. Featuring Capaldi’s singer soothing his partner back to sleep after accidentally waking them while bringing the bins out, it’s full of the twinkling melancholy that makes the former Doctor Who actor’s music so beautiful. Peter Capaldi’s two television dramas, Criminal Record and The Devil’s Hour, are also returning with new episodes coming soon
The release of his new album and single aren’t the only good news for the Doctor Who star. His television drama Criminal Record has been renewed for a second series, due to arrive next year. One of the key things distinguishing the show from other detective series has been the huge change the investigation causes for the characters themselves. So it’s exciting to see how Capaldi’s DCI Hegarty and Cush Jumbo’s DS Lenker continue to develop.
Meanwhile, season 2 of The Devil’s Hour, starring Capaldi as a mysterious stranger who’s either a serial killer or the last, best chance to stop the end of the world, will be landing on Amazon Prime in the next few months. A third and final season of the horror drama is already filming.
