The Satan Pit brings the Doctor and Rose to the planet Krop Tor, a planet in a stable orbit impossibly close to a black hole. Ancient cosmic legend claims the demonic black hole tried to eat the planet but spat it back out. However, separated and fighting for their lives, the pair of time travellers discover the truth is even stranger and darker. The story is also the first appearance of telepathic aliens the Ood, who would go on to be one of 21st century Doctor Who’s most iconic creatures.
