The Doctor Who Experience Cardiff is at it again with a new round of fun and exciting summer features. They’ve just announced the upcoming lineup of activities from the home of all things Doctor Who.
First things first, the much-beloved Filming Locations Tour is back from Saturday 6th August to the end of September. Taking the form of a walking tour, it will feature a number of filming sites throughout Cardiff Bay and promises to stretch back throughout the reboot to 2005.
Up next, the Restoration team is once again offering fans a vote on which Classic Who monsters should be next in line for restoration to their former glory. They’ve selected two monsters each from the Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh Doctor eras to add to the voting pool as well as one entry from the last episode of Doctor Who’s original run in 1989. Whichever monster the public chooses will be curated and put on display at the Doctor Who Experience.
Doctor Who Gallery
They have also announced the addition of their newest exhibit, the Doctor Who Gallery. In celebration of Doctor Who Magazine’s 500th issue, the gallery will feature a collection of covers from throughout the magazine’s history. Good news as well for anyone who missed the Target Books cover art exhibition at the Cartoon museum. You’ll get a second chance to view these rare novel covers from the 1970’s and 80’s at the Doctor Who Experience for a limited time. The gallery opens to the public beginning on 8th August.
Design a Comic Strip
Another offering for the art enthusiast has been announced that pairs well with a visit to the gallery. If you fancy yourself an aspiring artist or just want to learn a few tricks of the trade, Cavan Scott will be hosting a pair of comic book workshops at the Doctor Who Experience for the month of August. Scott is an author for the Doctor Who Titan comic books and will be sharing his expertise and industry knowledge on the writing and creation of a comic strip on Wednesday 10th and Wednesday 17th August. Customers in attendance will also get the opportunity to create their own Doctor Who comic strip.
New TARDIS Exhibit
Last but not least, a new TARDIS console is opening in the 50th-anniversary area. The 1977-81 replica produced for the Day of the Doctor trailer will be coming to the Doctor Who Experience. While only half of the set was built for production, the complete three-dimensional interior has since been finalised and will be on display from 1st August.
