The cast and crew Victoria can add two more jewels to their crown after winning big at the Golden Nymph Awards 2017.

The hit period drama, which follows the ascension of Queen Victoria at the age of just 18, took home two gongs at the Golden Nymph Awards last night. Following huge critical acclaim and ratings success, the show was triumphantly crowned Best Drama Series. We can’t say we’re surprised – we were big fans of the show during its initial run.

But that’s not all! Jenna Coleman, better known to Doctor Who fans as Clara Oswald, also won Best Female Performance for her role as the young Victoria. A prestigious accolade befitting of a queen, we’re sure you’ll agree.

This awards success leaves Victoria in good stead for its upcoming second series, airing later this year. The new episodes will see Victoria juggling marriage, monarchy, and motherhood. Writer Daisy Goodwin says: “It’s hard to be a wife, a mother and ruler of the most powerful nation on earth!”. Damien Timmer from Mammoth Screen also notes that we can expect “constitutional crises, scandals at court and personal challenges aplenty for the Queen and Prince Albert”.

Victoria Series 2 is due to begin on ITV in Autumn 2017, followed by a Christmas special.
