ITV’s new 8-part drama ‘Victoria’ starring Jenna Coleman reaches it’s penultimate episode tonight at 9pm.

In episode 7 ‘The Engine of Change’, Victoria (Jenna Coleman) finds herself pregnant but this happy event only raises the sticky topic of a Regency. When she names Albert (Tom Hughes) as the head of state in case of her death, the Tories are outraged by the prospect of being ruled by a German prince.

However, Albert is still desperate to have more influence in the present. He proposes a trip to the rapidly industrialising North in an attempt to engage with the country at large. Far from the thrilling journey he anticipated, Albert is humiliated by his Tory hosts and confused by Victoria’s insensitivity.

In this hostile environment Albert finds a kindred spirit in Sir Robert Peel (Nigel Lindsay) and to his delight, he invites Albert to visit his railway.

Meanwhile, below stairs, Lohlein (Basil Eidenbenz) is subject to similar antagonism for being foreign and back at the palace, Francatelli (Ferdinand Kingsley) and Skerrett (Nell Hudson) are starting to fall in love.

‘Victoria’ reaches its final episode – ‘Young England’ on Sunday 8th October at 9pm on ITV.
