The DVD and Blu-ray will be available in the US from the 5th April.

Series 9 of Doctor Who was a complicated mix of brilliant and bittersweet, of foreboding, death, and an overall feeling of loss. Several episodes lacked a definitive resolution, and that seems to suit the pensive, methodical nature of Peter Capaldi’s Doctor. This is without a doubt his finest season. As for Clara (Jenna Coleman), this was her final season. The series also introduced Me/Ashildr, a recurring character played by Maisie Williams. Though she has stated that she will not be returning to the show soon, it seems likely that Ashildr will meet the Doctor again. This series also marked the beginning of the end of showrunner Steven Moffat’s time on the show, as he announced that he would be leaving after series 10.

  1. I’m curious to see what deleted scenes are included. I’m hoping the one from Magician’s Apprentice where Missy and the Doctor talk about the wedding and the Face the Raven scene where the Doctor asks Rigsy to take care of Clara. We also know there was more to the Zygon Inversion speech and I wonder if any of that was filmed, too?
