The Torchwood story continues with Torchwood Among Us as details of the second box set in the new epic emerge
Since 2017, Big Finish Productions has officially continued the popular Doctor Who spin-off on audio, with two highly-acclaimed Torchwood series, Aliens Among Us and God Among Us. Recently they announced that the story of present day Torchwood would continue with Torchwood Among Us. And now details of the second volume in the new epic have been revealed.
The modern Torchwood team reunites with some familiar faces… some more unexpected than others
In Torchwood Among Us 2, a roster of familiar names return. There’s Murray Melvin as Bilis Manger, the mysterious time travelling anti-villain first introduced on TV in Captain Jack Harkness, and who’s schemed and plotted his way to dark victories on audio ever since. Tracy-Ann Oberman is back too as Doomsday’s Torchwood leader Yvonne Hartman, or rather her parallel universe doppleganger; who took advantage of the chaos to make a new home for herself in our world. Andy Davison, TV’s erstwhile Cardiff PC who with Big Finish has gone on to even be a travelling companion of the Eighth Doctor, returns for more adventures too. Even Gareth David-Lloyd is back, years after his much mourned character Ianto Jones died in Children of Earth! But how?
Plus Big Finish’s familiar Torchwood team first assembled by Gwen as she rebuilt Torchwood post-Miracle Day in Aliens Among Us are all back. Paul Clayton is the grumpy but sophisticated former special forces officer Mr Colchester. Samantha Béart is the literally gender fluid shape changer Orr. Alexandria Riley returns as Ng, originally the herald of a world destroying god, but now determined to make Earth her home. And Jonny Green rounds out the team as the manipulative, shallow, and deeply untrustworthy ex-tabloid journalist Tyler Steele.
Also making a special appearance is the It’s a Sin and The Witcher: Blood Origin star, Nathaniel Curtis as new character Vijay.

Meanwhile, the cast have been speaking about the appeal of returning to these Torchwood characters once more.
Paul Clayton: “It’s fascinating for me when I get these fantastic scripts that reveal a little more of the enigma that is St John Colchester. There’s a rich story behind him and it’s what makes him interesting to encounter.”
Tracy-Ann Oberman: “Yvonne is the person you want in the world – she’s always ahead of the game. The writers really know this world and have invested in it. Everything has a logic and meaning so there’s a pay-off later.”
Tom Price: “It’s great fun to play Andy Davidson. He’s still got the bouncy enthusiasm – leaping into every situation and reacting with real honesty.”
Murray Melvin: “It’s lovely playing a baddie. I’ve played a long line of baddies.”
Nathaniel Curtis: “What a lovely group of people. It’s been so enjoyable to bounce off each other. Bilis Manger is genuinely quite frightening!”
