In cinemas in the UK in time for the Easter holidays, Tom Baker’s newest role sees him as a giant blue bear in children’s animated film, Wonder Park
Doctor Who star Tom Baker steps back into the shoes of children’s hero with his new film, Wonder Park. The film takes audiences into a mysterious theme park run by magical talking animals. Baker plays Boomer, the giant blue bear entrusted with greeting guests and testing all the rides.
Like many of the best animated feature films, Wonder Park explores issues at multiple levels. It follows the story of young June – a girl who designed the Wonderland theme park as a childhood game. Together with her mother, she staffed it in her imagination with her favourite toys. But after her mother falls severely ill, June destroys the park’s plans and runs away into the woods. But deep in the darkest part of the forest she finds the real Wonderland theme park. Not only that, but her friends have been magically brought to life too. But the park is neglected and under threat by the terrible storm of the Darkness. Can Tom Baker’s Boomer and the others help June save the park and, with it, her own sense of imagination and hope?
Baker’s co-stars include Jennifer Garner as June’s mother and Jon Oliver as Steve the Porcupine, Wonderland’s Health and Safety officer.
The release of the film is also supported by a temporary rebranding of famous British theme park Chessington World of Adventures. Chessington will become ‘Wonder Park’ from now until April 22nd. They’ll even have Boomer himself on hand to greet children visiting the theme park!
From Paramount UK and Nickelodeon Movies, Wonder Park is in cinemas across the UK from Friday the 12th of April.
