Tom Baker makes a rare new acting appearance in the Crime & Comedy Theatre production of A Christmas Carol, now touring England
It’s fast becoming an annual tradition. Colin Baker and Peter Purves are once again live on stage and in person, leading an adaptation of A Christmas Carol. But this year’s production of Charles Dickens’ classic also has something a bit special to add. It features a rare, specially recorded appearance by Tom Baker as Jacob Marley! The three Doctor Who stars unite to tell one of the all time great Christmas stories.
This version of A Christmas Carol styles itself as a radio-play-live-on-stage. It’s a similar approach to Big Finish’s recent live version of Doctor Who: The Stuff of Legend. The set of the stage resembles a radio studio, with the actors ready as if for a broadcast. The sound effects are also created live. It all combines to transport the audience to Victorian London. There, Dickens’ timeless tale of charity, forgiveness and redemption at Christmas will unfold once more.

A Christmas Carol
On Christmas Eve, Ebenezer Scrooge is warned by the ghost of Jacob Marley that he will be visited by three Spirits – Christmas Past, Christmas Present and Christmas Yet To Come. They whisk Scrooge to the past and his happy boyhood Christmastimes, to the present to meet Tiny Tim at Bob Cratchit’s Christmas feast, and to the future and Scrooge’s own miserable grave – all to show him the error of his ways. But will Scrooge wake on Christmas morning a changed man?
I’m very disappointed the locations are south of the northern England border, my closest place is dudley and that’s still prob overnight trip, why no northern locations?
