Titan Comics’ Classic Doctor Who range is back with a bang. The team who brought us new comic adventures with the Fourth and Third Doctors now bring us adventures of the Doctor’s Seventh incarnation. Coming in June 2018, the Seventh Doctor will feature in a new mini-series adventure accompanied by Ace.
BBC Worldwide and Titan Comics are excited to announce that the Seventh Doctor is back, in comics! This brand-new three-part comic series stars the Seventh Doctor, as played by Sylvester McCoy, alongside his companion Ace, played onscreen by Sophie Aldred. McCoy starred onscreen as the Seventh Doctor from 1987 to 1989 before regenerating in the 1996 TV movie. The Seventh Doctor was a light-hearted eccentric, at first, who darkened into a secretive, mysterious and cunning planner during his tenure. McCoy’s incarnation has also featured in hundreds of novels and comic strips, particularly in Doctor Who Magazine during the 1990’s. The Seventh Doctor’s era continues to live on in the hugely successful range of audios from Big Finish.
Doctor Who: The Seventh Doctor expands Titan Comics’ hugely popular and critically acclaimed Doctor Who comics line. Hitting stores and digital platforms in June 2018 with a double-sized first issue, DOCTOR WHO: THE SEVENTH DOCTOR #1, is written by former Script Editor Andrew Cartmel and writer Ben Aaronovitch. Aaronovitch and Cartmel return to the Seventh Doctor 30 years after the transmission of the classic story ‘Remembrance of the Daleks’. For the Seventh Doctor comics they are joined by illustrator Christopher Jones (The Third Doctor) and colourist Marco Lesko (The Ninth Doctor) to bring astonishing twists and turns to the lives of the Seventh Doctor and his companion.
An unknown alien intelligence in orbit around the Earth. Astronauts under attack. A terrifying, mysterious landing in the Australian interior. The future of the world itself at stake. Counter Measures activated. The Seventh Doctor and Ace are slap bang in the middle of it all! This is OPERATION VOLCANO!
The debut issue comes with four variant covers to collect: three art covers by artists Alice X. Zhang (to be revealed), Simon Myers and Christopher Jones, plus a photo cover by Will Brooks. The Seventh Doctor will also materialise with a back-up strip written by Twelfth Doctor scribe Richard Dinnick and featuring art by Jessica Martin who appeared alongside the Seventh Doctor and Ace in ‘The Greatest Show In The Galaxy’ in 1988.
