Titan Comics have revealed their involvement in BBC Studios‘ new multi-platform Doctor Who story Time Lord Victorious, with a tie-in comic series due to launch in September
First announced back in April, Time Lord Victorious will be set during the Dark Times of the universe, when even the Eternals were young. It will follow several Doctors across time and space as they defend their home planet from a terrible race. The Eighth, Ninth, and Tenth Doctors, plus companion Rose Tyler, as well as the Daleks and the Ood will feature in this story, with more to be revealed in the coming months as more products are announced.
This exciting new Doctor Who story will be told across a wide array of platforms, ranging from audio drama and novels, to escape rooms and immersive theatre. BBC Books have already revealed details of two tie-in novels due for release later this year, with Big Finish having also unveiled four audio stories which will form part of the Time Lord Victorious story.
Now, Titan Comics have announced that they will be launching two over-sized comic issues, beginning with Doctor Who: Time Lord Victorious #1 on 2nd September 2020. This issue will be the first instalment in a special two-part Tenth Doctor adventure which will see the Doctor’s deadliest enemy, the Daleks, make their Titan Comics debut. When the Doctor faces his ancient foes once again, it soon becomes clear that things aren’t what they seem – time is all wrong and something is coming that terrifies even the Daleks.
Jake Devine, Editor of Titan’s Doctor Who comics, says: “Titan’s comic story is quite unique, as it features the Tenth Doctor as seen in the recent Thirteenth Doctor comic series, so he’s not reached his so-called victory over time yet. But what has been fun to explore is the Doctor getting a glimpse of what’s to come and foreshadowing his own dark turn.”
Time Lord Victorious #1 has been written by Eisner nominee Jody Houser, and features artwork from Roberta Ingranata and colourist Enrica Eren Angiolini, all of whom also make up the creative team behind Titan Comics‘ ongoing Doctor Who: The Thirteenth Doctor series.
This first issue will also come with five variant covers for fans to collector, including an official Time Lord Victorious iconic by artist Lee Binding. Also available will be art covers by Andie Tong, Priscilla Petraites, a Dalek metallic ink version by Hendry Prasetya and a Dalek blue line sketch cover.
