New details of the second season of Titan Comics’ Doctor Who: The Thirteenth Doctor series have been unveiled at New York Comic Con 2019, which will see the Tenth and Thirteenth Doctors join forces against the Weeping Angels!
Following a hugely successful first year, Titan Comics have confirmed that their Thirteenth Doctor series will be returning for a second run. From its inaugural issue, which debuted in September 2018, this series quickly established itself as a seamless extension of the current television series. Writer Jody Houser, along with regular artists Rachael Stott, Eren Enrica Angiolini and Roberta Ingranata, have effortlessly translated the Doctor, Yaz, Graham and Ryan from screen to page.
Across the past twelve issues, we’ve seen the ‘fam’ continue their travels across the furthest reaches of time and space. Their most recent comic adventure saw them team up swashbuckling Time Lord the Corsair, who was first mentioned in Neil Gaiman‘s 2011 television story ‘The Doctor’s Wife‘.
The Thirteenth Doctor Season Two #1 Promises An Epic Multi-Doctor Adventure
Now, this latest announcement, made at this year’s New York Comic Con, reveals fresh details about the Thirteenth Doctor’s future in comic form. Titan Comics have revealed that the opening issue of their Doctor Who: The Thirteenth Doctor Season Two series will see the current Doctor (as portrayed on-screen by Jodie Whittaker) team up with one of her previous incarnations in the form of David Tennant‘s Tenth Doctor. Together, they’ll come face to face with some of their deadliest enemies.
Issue #1 will see a re-imagining of Steven Moffat‘s iconic 2007 television story Blink. The Tenth and Thirteenth Doctors must join forces to take on the Weeping Angels and the Autons as they descend upon 1960s London. It’ll take two Doctors to stop Earth from becoming an alien battleground!
What’s more, readers will have five variant covers to choose from for this first issue. These covers will feature work from a diverse array of artists, including Paulina Ganucheau, Will Brooks, Alice X. Zhang, Sarah Graley, plus a Batman-inspired cover from Andrew Pepoy.
