George Mann returns to Doctor Who comics, taking a shot at the Eleventh Doctor run.
The Doctor, Alice and the sapling are fresh from their previous adventure, after saving the Ood from impending doom. But there is no rest for this TARDIS team as they receive a distress call from a mystery ship.
However, all is not as it seems. Where are the passengers and the crew? There are mysterious happenings as the team investigate and the Doctor is concerned as to what the ship is actually running on. All these bizarre goings-on and interesting plot lines make for a fun read as you find yourself immersed in some top notch writing.
The artwork rises to the usual high standards we have come to expect in this amazing run of comics. I.N.J Culbard not only succeeds to present amazing likenesses to everybody’s favourite characters but also delivers some marvellous panels of art which really make the story come alive. In particular, a marvellous image of the ship and its contents which shows amazing imagination.
The story we are given in this issue does not slacken or slow at any point. The plot is fast and quick and we are presented with new, interesting and intriguing ideas with every panel along with plenty of questions.
Despite the quick adventurous plot, there is also some hint towards the overall arc of this series, which is not thrust upon us but actually links in with the overall story building on what we have already discovered in previous issues.
The comic is left with a big cliff-hanger which perhaps requires prior knowledge of the previous issues to truly understand. However, anyone can read and discover what is to come in the next issue.
Overall a very fun and enjoyable issue which leaves the reader invested in the plot and characters. George Mann has succeeded yet again.
