The TARDIS materialises beside Leicester Cathedral where a year ago, thousands gathered to watch the procession of the coffin containing the remains of Richard III, culminating in a Royal reburial service on March 27th.
The King has some connections to Doctor Who across different media. Colin Baker starred in a short film Finding Richard, in which he plays a Grandad helping his grandson on an archaeological dig, inspired by the discovery of the king’s remains in a Leicester car park. The film premiered at Cannes 2014.
