This particular breed of Cyberman first appeared in Rise of the Cybermen/Age of Steel (2006), set in a parallel universe. Created by Cybus Industries CEO John Lumic (Roger Lloyd Pack), who was intent on upgrading humanity to Cyber-form, the unfortunate victims’ brains were removed and placed inside a bullet-proof suit of armour. A special implant within the suit meant all emotion and pain were purged unless the implant was disrupted.
Their first ever appearance came in the four-part serial, The Tenth Planet.
