Dedicated to the memory of broadcaster Sir Terry Wogan (1938-2016) who was at the centre of the Children in Need charity appeal, which Doctor Who has long been associated with since the airing of the 20th anniversary The Five Doctors (1983). From 2005 onwards the live telethon on BBC One would screen preview clips from upcoming Christmas Specials, as well as mini-episodes, notably Time Crash (2007).
