The wait is nearly over!

The BBC have confirmed today that after 4 months in production, it’s finally the last week of term for BBC Three’s brand new young adult series, ‘Class’

The 8-part series will air this autumn. BBC Three and BBC America dates to be confirmed.

‘Class’ is set in the fictional Coal Hill School, London where incredible dangers are breaking through the walls of time and space.  With darkness coming, London is unprotected. With all the action, heart and adrenalin of the best YA fiction (Buffy, Hunger Games), this is Coal Hill School and Doctor Who like you’ve never seen it before.

Coal Hill School, which has long been a fixture in the world of Doctor Who,  made its first appearance in the very first episode of the Doctor Who.  Susan, the First Doctor’s granddaughter, was a student at Coal Hill back in 1963. Coal Hill reappeared in modern times when Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman) began her teaching career.  Her maths teacher boyfriend Danny Pink, also worked there. The school is also featured in several episodes with Peter Capaldi, the Twelfth Doctor including Series 9 season opener,  The Magician’s Apprentice.

The series, announced in October 2015 was filmed at Cardiff University.

Cast & Crew

Protecting us from the hidden dangers of time and space are Greg Austin, Fady Elsayed, Sophie Hopkins and Vivian Oparah. Coronation Street star Katherine Kelly is the Class’ teacher.

The series is written by award winning young adult writer Patrick Ness (Chaos Walking trilogy and A Monster Calls). It is executive produced by current Doctor Who show runner Steven Moffatt, Patrick Ness and Brian Minchin. Derek Ritchie is the shows producer and Ed Bazalgette (Poldark, Doctor Who) directs. Class is a BBC Cymru Wales production, co-produced with BBC America and BBC Worldwide.
