Cinematographer Ali Asad has revealed that some filming for Doctor Who Series 9 may take place in Spain. On Twitter he revealed, “Going to Spain on a location recce for the DR.” Ali, a fan of the show since the age of 12, is filming on two episodes of the upcoming series, possibly the second block of filming. Currently being shot in Block One are episodes three and four.

This is not the first time Spain has been used for a filming location in Doctor Who; being used in Planet of Fire (1984), The Two Doctors (1985), briefly in Asylum of the Daleks (2012), A Town Called Mercy (2012) and most recently again last year in Kill the Moon.
