Earlier today the BBC announced that Executive Producer Caroline Skinner has left the Doctor Who production team to join BBC Drama Production in London with immediate effect. Skinner said:
“I have hugely enjoyed my time in BBC Wales and would like to thank Faith Penhale, and our wonderful production team for their unending commitment and brilliance. I will miss them all enormously, but I’m leaving Doctor Who in fine form, with the new series starting at Easter and the fantastic plans for the 50th Anniversary already underway. I am delighted to be now returning to BBC Drama Production in London as an executive producer, and the new opportunities and projects that will bring.”
The aforementioned Penhale will take over as the executive producer on the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary 3D 90 minute special whilst Skinner will continue working on BBC Two’s one-off drama An Adventure In Space and Time which forms part of the BBC’s celebrations to mark the 50th Anniversary.

  1. The Doctor changes companions regularly, I don't see a problem with the showrunner doing same. As long as Moffat isn't quitting I don't see this being a big deal. It's not like they're signed to long-term contracts or anything.

  2. I'm confused, I thought that the anniversary special was 60 minutes long, not 90. I won't complain if it is 90 minutes, unless they omit the prior Doctors from participating.

For me, 45 minutes with Smith is too long, and I can't bear the thought of 90…Sorry, I'm one of those folks eagerly anticipating a regeneration ASAP.
