Due to some personal issues there won’t be any updates on Blogtor Who for the time being. The remaining two commentaries for Torchwood: Miracle Day will be posted in the upcoming weeks (as they’ve been recorded already).
ETA: The matter has now been amicably resolved. Thanks for all the positive comments, very much appreciated. Normal service has resumed #SmileyFace

Cameron K McEwan was the first owner and site editor of Blogtor Who since its creation in May 2008 until Dec 2015. A lifelong Doctor Who fan, Cameron has also written two books, The Who’s Who of Doctor Who and Doctor Who: The Big Book of Lists, and directed a film all about Doctor Who fans throughout the years, Who’s Changing - An Adventure In Time With Fans. Cameron also contributes TV and film news and reviews to BBC Radio London, Metro, Digital Spy, New York Observer and Den of Geek. He lives in London with his one trousers.

  1. Come on, don't let them get you down. He just over-reacted. Forget about it for a while and come back later, we'd all miss you if you were gone for too long. 🙂

  2. Hi Cameron – I hope everything is ok and it is not too serious – I've never commented on here before but I love your podcasts and the very first thing I did after watching Night Terrors on the iplayer was to come straight here to hear your take! Please don't stop! We love you even all the way over here in New York!!
    – M.

  3. Please don't stop blogging! I unsubscribed from all my other Doctor Who sites earlier today because they're all redundant compared to Blogtor Who :(. I hope everything's okay, though.

  4. Longtime lurker here, but just wanted to say how much I enjoy your blog and tweets. So pleased I'm not the only one who remembers 'The Enchanted Castle'. Hope you're ok and come back soon. Reading about Dr Who wouldn't be the same without you.

  5. Dear Cameron,

Just because that writer has no idea what he is talking about and has no concept of what screeners are, and how they are provided to people, and that if you were doing something horrid, the BBC would have stopped you long ago before this no name.

Don't let him win, by going away, you are letting his I'm all important because I wrote this attitude win.

I've loved every thing you have done since I found your site, and I am kind of devastated that I can't get my news and commentaries from you.

You have a fantastic reputation in the Who world and one writer with a grudge shouldn't make you stop.

And I'll say it on here too, said writer guy needs to go read that new study about spoilers. And also needs to learn what a spoiler is.

But please don't change and give in to one person because he's got his knickers on a bit too tight. I look forward to seeing your tweets and blog posts daily.

I'd hate to have to delete all my RSS feeds and book marks to your site. You've spent a lot of time on this, and I'd hate to see you give this up.

  6. Sorry to hear this Cameron, this has got to be the #1 Doctor Who website, definitely better than the BBC page!

Can I just ask what's happened with which writer?

  7. No please don't do this! I need my daily blogtor who fix. Apart from Gallifrey base this is the only doctor who site I visit. I read every post you make and your reviews are well written please come back to us. I need you for my doctor who news 🙁

  8. NO!!!!NO!!NO!!! I love Blogtor Who, there's a reason I follow you on Twitter and it's because you're always up to date.

If this is to do with Tom MacRae and his quite honestly ludicrous ignorance to what you do, then screw that! Come back, forget whatever was said and continue your awesome work! 🙂

  9. Don't let it get you down Cameron! You run the best Doctor Who blog in the world and it's such a vast number of people that enjoy your hard work everyday. It would be such a loss for the Who community to see Blogtor go, and I say this from the bottom of my heart!

  10. Oh Cameron, I'm so sorry to hear this. It's obvious you put a lot of love and hard work into this site and I'm devastated to see that something or someone has made you feel so bad that you think you need to abandon it. I have no idea what's gone on and who's said what because for some time now this has been my one-stop-shop for everything Who but whatever has happened, please know that a lot of people love and appreciate you for not only what you do, but the generous and uncynical way in which you do it. Don't leave us, wee need you!

  11. I'm in America and me and my friends LOVE your sight. We hope everything is alright and we want you to know that you will be genuinely missed if you decide to leave. You have always been our "go to guy" for the latest news and reviews. Your intelligence and wit set you far above the rest. Please take care of yourself no matter what decision you make and thank you so much for everything you've done for us.

  12. On behalf of DW fans everywhere, please reconsider. Blogtor is the only DW news source I rely on and I would feel absolutely lost without it.

  13. Whatever you choose to do Cameron, just know that a lot of people (all of us commenting here, and many more besides!) have really appreciated all the hard work you've put into this site over the years, and we;re really, really grateful. I hope you do keep going, despite what Tom McRae or anyone else says, they're just full of themselves, but if you do decide to give it up for good I think we'll all understand (but PLEASE DON'T!!)

  14. You have quite rightly not alluded to the personal reasons that have led you to this decision. If it is the Twitter comments that were exchanged, I would hope that a couple of slightly terse Tweets wouldn't be the reason you don't wish to update the site. In any event, all the very best.

  15. Sorry to hear that. I wouldn't presume to know what's going on in your life but I hope everything sorts itself out for you. Things have a habit of getting better! :D. X

  16. Don't let a few words from Tom McRae make you shut up shop, Cam. He seemed mildly perturbed at best. Hell, even if you did over step the mark a little by posting what he deems to be too much of a spoiler, it's not like you are holding anyone at gunpoint forcing them to read it.

The effort you put into this website is second to none, please come back.

  17. Tom McRae is a fool who thinks his episode is more important to fans than years of dedicated, up to date and loving Who news, features and commentaries. Teasers are just that. I've read them and I'm intrigued but the episode is not spoiled in any way, which is the point!

This guy has previously written a half-cocked Cyberman episode and then expects his episode to be treated like it's the greatest thing ever. SteMo and Gatiss never grumble because they know that much of the fun of Who is the chatter and theories which you, Cam, are a central part of for Who fans. Don't let some jumped up bloke ruin what has been wonderful for years, it is literally Doctor spanning!

  18. Please don't stay away too long. Tom Macrae over-reacted, and I'm sure he would be horrified if he thought he'd effectively closed a Doctor Who site. Your commentaries and sense of fun are brilliant, and you also deliver some great news and features. Your recent interactions with The Grand Moff are another indication of how far this site has come. Cool off for a couple of days, then please, *please* come back, Cameron.

Can I also say, to the more vocal of us out there, I do hope no-one's giving Tom Macrae a hard time over this on Twitter. I'm sure it was a misunderstanding, and he was just protecting the series from what he thought were unnecessary spoilers. Hopefully, this will just pass – I'm sure Steven Moffat would be happy to put him straight – and the Blogtor Who team can get going again.

    Come back soon, Cameron.

  19. Dear Cameron,

Sir, we all fully understand if you have personal reasons to pause this site for a while. No justifications or explanations are necessary. Real life intervenes. However, may I just add to the chorus of support for you and this site and to say thank-you for the hours of pleasure you've given me over the years .Blogtor is the site I've been visiting every single day and find it the nicest, warmest and most entertaining DW site on the web. Additionally, if this decision is somehow connected to some things that were said on Twitter (and it's no business of mine or anyone elses if it is) then be assured that you were totally in the right, did absolutely nothing wrong whatsoever (there are more spoilers in an average newspaper review) and the 'writer' in question is starting to get a bit of a reputation for his rather prissy, unpleasant attitude and, in the eyes of some of his colleagues in the business, let it all go a bit to his head. Anyway, you did nothing whatsoever wrong.
Take care sir, and we hope BW will be back soon…

  20. Child.

For god's sake the writer has every right to defend himself if he doesn't want you posting bits of his script online. Absolutely no need to stamp your feet and storm off.

  21. PLEASE PLEASE DON'T STOP BLOGTOR WHO!! I love your blog and tweets please don't let this get in your way. You have the best Doctor Who site. Blogtor Who started my love for Doctor Who!!

  22. Please don't go BlogtorWho, i love this website and especially your commentaries, your commentaries are my highlight of the week, i hope you come back soon 🙂

  23. Hey Cameron, hope you decide to keep blogging and don't let one person's opinion get you down to much. Yours is my favourite Doctor Who blog online – you tease but never spoil the way other sites do. Please keep blogging, and keep up the good work.

  24. Hey Cameron, sorry to hear that happened to you. Your site is fantastic and you managed to reach me all the way in Georgia and kept me updated. Don't let it get you down!

  25. Hopefully this whole business with Mr Macrae isn't the issue here, but just wanted to add to the praise for your site.

I can't really say much more than what's already been said, but yours is the only site I go to for Doctor Who news other than the official one (which isn't updated as often) and it would be a great loss to see this site disappear.

If indeed it does I'd like to say a heartfelt thankyou for the teasers (not spoilers) and the torrent of wit!

  26. You asked him a question and he answered frankly, you don't care for his answer, that's fine but don't just walk away, take it on the chin and move on.

  27. Cameron,
I live in the US and we have nothing close to the quality and wealth of information not to mention fun podcasts, that you provide to fans of both Doctor Who and Torchwood. I hope whatever issues are going on are resolved soon and you can return to Blogtor Who.

  28. Dear Cameron,

I think everything has been said here by so many. Your site is wonderful and well managed and fun and unique. I hope that you do not stop forever. If this is because of 'McRaeGate', he was out drinking and making merry last night, so that may well have led to a more curt reaction than usual.

I hope the website sticks around. Its one of my most visited. If you do decide to quit indefinitely then thank you very much for everything over the years.

  29. As many people have already said, it would be a great shame not to hear from Blogtor Who any more. It is one of the few sites I visit daily to keep up to date with news that otherwise I may have missed. Please reconsider your current position.

  30. I don't know what I might do without you Cameron, Mr BlogtorWho!
Ever since I found this site earlier this year I don't think I've gone a day without coming on here! I think I must've read and watched EVERYTHING on here!
So many of us rely on you but we will respect any decision you decide to make in regards to this blog.

  31. Thanks for years of top quality who blogging. Hopefully you'll come back and carry on. But an honest thankyou for everything, Matt

  32. Hey!
Hope that everything is going ok. I found Blogtor Who a couple years ago, while looking for a way to look at DW videos outisde of the UK.
I love your website to bits and I hope that you decide to return soon enough.
Thank you For years of blogging and long may it continue.

    Much Love
    From A French Fan

This happened before, remember. Cameron said the site was done and he came back a few weeks later. I can almost guarantee Cameron won't let this be the end of the site. He is too well known in Doctor Who fandom to let a stupid hissy fit with MacRae kill this site.

  34. Hi! As a Dutch Doctor Who fan who frequents your site, I can only say I hope you don't quit.

    Thanks for everything.

  35. Hi Cameron. I really wish you the best in what you do (hope this isn't about twitter. if it is though, I personally think he's wrong and being overprotective. and yes, he was rude). It's such a shame and I hope it's not too late for you to change your mind. You inspired me to open my own blog! Good Luck 🙂

  36. Cameron, I know you don't know me from "Adam"… But I hope everything gets sorted for you. And maybe you'll get back on line. But for whatever the reasons, take your time, if that's what you need. Will check back, for updates… And thank you for what you have been doing for us Whovians/Torchwoodies and SJA fans. It has always been greatly appreciated. Take care.
    – The Spaceman

  37. Well Tom MacRae has only written 3 episodes for Doctor Who, he may not how it works. All he knows that it should be kept a secret and probably after what happened to Steven Moffat in The Impossible Astronaut/Day of The Moon he just wants to keep the plot revelations a surprise. He probably doesn't know that cast can give HINTS as you were.

  38. Just unfollowed THAT WRITER. Just my little protest. Lots of support for you Cam hope it makes you feel better and that you come back soon.

  39. Just discovered this site through a friend, what 10 days ago? Not sure what exactly happened, but I can guess through the various posts that the writer of next weeks episode Tweeted something about "spoilers." While the fact the internet has ruined surprises for almost anything, high or low profile, I cannot feel that shutting this site down -which only hints at things (which some might say is bad enough) is the right idea. Giving in to a writer who cries over some minor information, is childish. He's young, think he's the cat's meow. Whatever.

  40. Cameron,

I don't know the context here so just want to add my voice to the chorus of appreciation massing in these comments. Your blog will most certainly be missed if you do cease activity.

Having said that, go forward in all your beliefs…

  41. Why ask Tom McRae's permission if you're going to have a hissy fit over his answer? Surely if permission mattered that much you wouldn't have posted first then asked?

Don't know why other comment posters are blaming McRae, surely he's entitled to an opinion?

  42. I love this site and I visit it 'far too many times than is good for my health' daily for updates, and I adore the commentaries too. I really hope this isn't it. All the best and hope you're back real soon.

  43. I hope you come back soon. If this is over Twitter stuff, I can understand his view of things but I still don't agree. Your teasers are harmless and all they do is make me more excited for the episode. I've NEVER felt spoiled by anything you've posted before an episode.
I prefer your updates to other websites/blogs, so it'll be really sad if you're gone forever. I always seem to find stuff out from your Twitter first, so my Twitter feed has seemed really empty and lonely today without your updates!

  44. I must admit I do really love this site but can't help but feel you are acting like a bigger baby than this Tom Mcrae plonker. Seriously man up. If this man's words make you cry then you really shouldn't be allowed on the internet full stop.

What I'm saying is don't give up, don't cry and don't take your ball home.

  45. Place me firmly in the You've done nothing wrong-don't stop blogging camp! Before I read the comments (I usually don't)I assumed you were taking a break as in vacation/family issues. Another insecure show writer is whining that their show is so poorly written no one can know anything in advance or it's ruined?! It took me a while to comment because just two days ago a newspaper reviewers blog I read had a link through his twitter feed–to an official press release about the second season of Downton Abbey-(don't judge me, please)-the entire season, all episodes, in detail, everything that will be happening. Yep, can't find it now. The link goes to a different page now. But for part of a day it was on the internet for everyone to see.

To all producers/writers of shows take note: If knowing what the storyline or how scenes are made is going to "spoil" your show it wasn't worth making. Your writing is just too weak. People who don't want to watch a show if they know anything about it don't read reviews or blogs about shows or twitter feeds about shows. You've whined and b*tched about it way to much this year and you, not bloggers are causing viewers to not watch. Writers start the process but without the actors, cinematography, set design, effects departments and editing.. your story is just a short story. I'm tempted to not watch Mr. Mcrae's work. Maybe he's upset that there is a singer of the same name who's name comes up on google before his.

  46. Take what time you need, but please come back soon! You're the only Doctor Who site I check b/c, well, it's the best! (If this has anything to do with that Twitter thing, don't worry too much over it– writers and tv folks tend to go all crazy over nothing. :p)

  47. I like most of the other 72 comments and (counting at this point) don't normally post here, but I wanted to say thank you for what you have all here. And I hope it shows how many of us, Cameron, value the time you have dedicated to this site, the commenaries and more.

If this ends up being it for the site then well its been a great place to visit and if not then I look forward to it's return whenever you're ready.

  48. I hope you're back soon. If it is over the Tom McRae stuff then you should just think of it as water off a duck's back. Nobody else has complained and I doubt you have been warned by the BBC or anything. Tom's outburst was a bit childish, tbqh.

    Be back soon!

  49. Ignore Tom, he doesn't even seem that bothered. There are so many of us that actually appreciate everything that you do with BW, please come back!! 🙁

  50. So have I got this straight?

    1. Cameron sends links to Tom MacRae with episode teasers/quotes.
    2. Tom sees them and doesn't like it and thinks they spoil his episode.
    3. Cameron decides to pull the plug on Blogtor?

Isn't that a bit rash? No offence Cameron but It kind of makes you look a bit childish really. Tom didn't react in a horrible way. And why send them if you can't take criticism yourself? Or why send them to him at all in the first place? What reaction were you hoping for? He wrote it so you're hardly previewing the episode for him.

Anyway if it's not that the timing was mighty coincidental.

  51. This is a very good site and it would be sad to see it go. All the worry over spoilers these days is so much bunk. If you don't want them getting out, don't circulate copies to reviewers ahead of broadcast and certainly don't give journalists screenings. Reviewers who share teasers or cryptic spoilers should not be castigated for being part of the promotional system within fandom. If the authors have a problem, they should take it up with the BBC who are the only ones who can really keep a lid on it until after UK broadcast. I can only guess why Blogtor is taking a break, but I can sympathise with someone knee-jerking to criticism from an author of note. It surely hurts. I encourage this chap to carry on and ignore what are surely the debates of yesteryear.

  52. Hope you come back to Blogtor Who soon, mate. This is the most informative place for all things Doctor Who, and I'll really miss it if it goes away for good.

  53. Some very sanguine comments here (not the sort of knee-jerk gibberish one encounters elswhere…) which reflects well on you Cam. I'm not gonna knock Mr MacRae and I'm not gonna decry you, Cam (assuming that's what's forced your absence). Take care and come back in your own good time.

  54. Balls to MacRae! You produce much more interesting stuff in your news round ups than that hack does in anything he writes! You've got a lot of supporters here mister and i'm sure the Moff would be behind what you do for fandom at large.

  55. Can't really add to what's already been said but….Your site is my fansite of choice because of all of the passion you have for Doctor Who. I hope it comes back soon…if not all the best of success to whatever you decide to do next!

  56. That's a real shame…I've come to rely on Blogtor for nickin…erm, I mean linking to reviews, podcasts, media etc 🙂 Come back soon mate.

  57. I will miss you – hope you are well and I wish you all the best.
I hope one day you will continue this fabulous blog…

  58. Blogtor has become my go to source for just the right amount of teasers, review, community, and commentary about Doctor Who over here in Virginia.

If this is over what happened with McRae, I can only imagine the terrible feeling of having an "inside" member of the Doctor Who community reacting so negatively to the hard work and dedication you have provided to the show and to your fans.

In the possiblity the events are coincidnetal, I wish you the best in whatever comes your way during your break…but hope it is just that, a break.

  59. Betty (above) posted the following: "To all producers/writers of shows take note: If knowing what the storyline or how scenes are made is going to "spoil" your show it wasn't worth making. Your writing is just too weak."

This is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever read. There are lots of reasons why a writer might want control over how their material is received, and that is absolutely their prerogative. Anybody who thinks such writing is "weak" either doesn't value surprise or simply doesn't engage with substantial enough work.

  60. I hope you come back soon and that everything gets sorted. Thanks for all the hard work you do. The commentaries are honestly some of the funniest things I have heard in my life!

  61. Thanks to everyone who posted, much appreciated.

The matter has now been resolved and normal service will resume.

There will be a sort of statement coming shortly.

    Thanks again,

  62. *phew*
so glad to see things back to normal – I was getting a bit down thinking one of my fave sources of Who related goodness was about to disappear.
