The Museum of Classic Sci-Fi officially opens on Saturday 20th October 2018. To mark the event, long time Doctor Who alumnus John Levene will be in attendance. Preparations for the Museum opening were recently featured on a Netflix show, ‘Amazing Interiors’. The full and official public opening is drawing closer with a special day of events to celebrate.

John Levene

Opening the Museum is John Levene whose involvement in Doctor Who dates back to 1967. He was an uncredited Cyberman in their second outing ‘The Moonbase’ before bringing life to a Yeti in ‘The Web of Fear’ the following year. Levene was due to become a Cyberman again in ‘The Invasion’ later in 1968. However he would actually take on the role of Benton, the character that he is so rightly remembered for. Following the exile of Jon Pertwee’s Third Doctor to Earth, UNIT and therefore Sergeant Benton, became regulars in the show. Levene appeared in classic stories such as ‘Terror of the Autons’, ‘The Daemons’, ‘The Three Doctors’ and so many more. He would also feature in three stories opposite Tom Baker’s Fourth Doctor. Benton’s final onscreen appearance would prove to be ‘The Android Invasion’ in 1975.

A popular guest on the convention circuit John Levene is always wonderfully approachable. Once again he will be sharing tales of the UNIT family with visitors to Allendale in Northumberland for this Special Opening Day Event at the Museum of Classic Sci-Fi.

Special Opening Day Event

Event prices will be in place, with tickets expected to be highly sought after. In addition to Museum entry, guests will also meet John Levene. There will no doubt be the chance for a selfie or two. Visitors will also receive an exclusive signed art print complete with a personal dedication. To book tickets those interested need to email having considered what time of day they wish to visit. The event is pre-booking only to ensure that everyone is allocated suitable time in the museum, followed by a personal chat with John Levene. Visitor attendance will therefore be spread across the day. Simply choose your ticket type and e-mail the museum to book a slot.

Additionally, a Special Evening Dinner Event will also take place. Hosted by The Golden Lion in Allendale, John Levene will be sharing further memories and stories with those in attendance.
