Well it has been an exciting month for Doctor Who. The final episode of series 10 aired, Thirteen Doctor has been announced and now we have some details and a new trailer for the 2017 Christmas Special. The episode, entitled Twice Upon a Time is the final episode for Peter Capaldi’s Doctor before he regenerates into Thirteen as portrayed by Jodie Whittaker. It is also the last episode for lead writer and executive producer Steven Moffat. Chris Chibnall, Doctor Who’s new showrunner, will take over from Moffat at the end of the Christmas special. As is the tradition for nu-Who, Chibnall will be writing Whittaker’s first words as the Doctor while Moffat will be writing Capaldi’s last.

Twice Upon a Time also features the First Doctor, as originated by William Hartnell, but played by David Bradley and Mark Gatiss who portrays a World War One soldier only know as ‘The Captain’. Not much is known about Gatiss’ character at this time.

The audience at this year’s San Diego Comic Con Doctor Who Panel were lucky enough to see an exclusive sneak peak of the episode. We will post the trailer in our subsequent post. It was also announced that Bill Potts (Pearl Mackie) wlll appear throughout the Christmas special. Bill was last seen leaving with Heather, the Pilot, after Heather transformed her from a Cyberman into a water-creature. Bill and Heather subsequently saved the Doctor (Peter Capaldi) and left him unconscious in the TARDIS. It isn’t clear how or why Bill has returned for this episode.
Doctor Who: Twice Upon a Time airs on Christmas special airs on Christmas Day 2017 on BBC One and BBC America.
