It is with deep sadness that BlogtorWho reports the death of actor Peter Sallis.
An English actor with a lengthy career, he is best known by Doctor Who fans as Penley in ‘The Ice Warriors’ (1967) opposite Patrick Troughton’s Second Doctor. He was later due to play Striker in the Fifth Doctor story ‘Enlightenment’ (1983). However industrial action delayed filming and his schedule meant he could no longer take on the role.

Sallis will perhaps best be remembered for playing Norman Clegg in every single episode of BBC comedy ‘Last of the Summer Wine’. He also provided the voice of Wallace for Aardman Productions animated series ‘Wallace and Gromit’. A talented character actor he appeared in a wide variety of television series from ‘The Avengers’ to ‘Z Cars’.
One of my Heros. Always promised myself when i retire I will slid down a hill in a bath tub.
