Prime Video has confirmed that the Peter Capaldi thriller series The Devil’s Hour will return for two more seasons

Former Doctor Who Peter Capaldi will be back for two more series of The Devil’s Hour as the mysterious Gideon. The Doctor Who star, who recently received an Outstanding Contribution Award from BAFTA Scotland will be joined by Jessica Raine (Hide, An Adventure in Space and Time), Nikesh Patel (Resolution), Meera Syal (The Hungry Earth/Cold Blood), Phil Dunster and Benjamin Chivers, who are all confirmed as returning too. Meanwhile Amazon have said that new characters will also arrive with questions and mysteries of their own. Series Two will start filming early next year. The broadcast date is unconfirmed, but likely to be sometime in late 2023.

Prime Video have hinted that Gideon’s true intentions will finally be revealed in the new series, as he attempts to involve Lucy (Raine) in his mission to stop an elusive force of evil. The new episodes will be “simultaneously a sequel and a prequel to the first chapter.”

And, of course, viewers should “expect nothing but the unexpected…”

“If you thought the final episode of Season One had all the answers, then you haven’t been asking the right questions.”

Tom Moran, The Devil’s Hour’s creator, explained that for all its seismic revelations, Series One was only ever the beginning. “Telling a story on television is a precarious business,” he said, “Season One of The Devil’s Hour was just the beginning – the opening act of a TV novel. I’m so thrilled that we get to keep turning those pages and slotting the puzzle pieces into place.

“If you thought the final episode of Season One had all the answers, then you haven’t been asking the right questions.”

Meanwhile Amazon Studios’ head of UK Originals, Dan Grabiner, praised the positive response The Devil’s Hour had received so far. “We’re thrilled with the audience response to The Devil’s Hour, and can’t wait to share the next chapter of this mind-bending story. Fans can look forward to plenty more twists and turns in this remarkable tale.”

The six episodes of The Devil’s Hour Series One, starring Peter Capaldi, are available now on Amazon Prime Video.

Lucy wakes every night at exactly 3:33am. Nothing in her life has made sense for a long time. But the answers are out there, somewhere, at the end of a trail of brutal murders.
