Paul McGann is the narrator of Unexplained Island, a new documentary exploring the dark and mysterious… Isle of Wight?
The Ninth Doctor may have once described visiting the 1980s as the time travel equivalent of a day out on the Isle of Wight, but his predecessor is ready to reveal its darker side. Former Doctor Who star Paul McGann narrates Unexplained Island. The new documentary reveals some of the weird mysteries that have haunted the island down the centuries.
With a reputation as ‘The world’s most haunted island’, the Isle of Wight is affectionately known by locals as ‘Ghost island’. It boasts more reported sightings per square foot than any other island on earth. Now unscripted documentary Unexplained Island follows a real team of friends and their investigations. Described the producers as “Finding Bigfoot meets The Detectorists“ viewers will learn some of history’s darkest secrets in the company of these loveable enthusiasts.
Paul McGann previously starred in 9 of Cups’ short film The Day of the Sun Dog, and narrates Unexplained Island. During filming of Sun Dog, McGann’s passion for history and anything a little bit strange or dark meant he was captivated by the stories about the Isle of Wight, leading to his signing up to the new project.
On the ground, the team is led by Isle of Wight native Colin Carmichael. He’s got a love of all things vintage, including his 1950’s car ‘Jane’, an Austin A35…it’s big on character but small on space. Although intrigued by the island’s strange and spooky tales, he’s a reluctant ghost hunter. He’s not a fan of the dark either, which doesn’t really help. Past credits include The Detectorists, Worzel Gummidge, Secret Diary of a Call Girl with Billie Piper, Black Mirror’s Five Million Credits, and Hot Fuzz.
The Day of the Sun Dog
