Eighth Doctor actor Paul McGann and his brother Mark have launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund a short film. Titled ‘Perplexed Music’ it is written by Mark McGann and will star Paul. Although the campaign has already reached the goal, further backers will contribute to extra shooting equipment, crew and post production facilities. The final product can therefore become as ambitious as the budget allows.
Perplexed Music is an original screenplay by Mark McGann about the universal cycle of devoted love, loss and rebirth. It is based on the Petrarchan (Italian) sonnet of the same name by Elizabeth Barrett-Browning. The film will explore the temporary madness and isolation experienced by a middle-aged man, played by Paul McGann, as he battles for reason and stability with worlds past and present, in need of closure and the strength to continue on his journey without his life companion. It certainly sounds like it will be an intriguing film. With funding confirmed the film will be shot entirely on location in Somerset, Cornwall and the Cotswolds in July 2017.
