Welcome to the barbecue from hell! Torchwood’s new monthly release is out now

The latest in the monthly adventures range for Doctor Who’s naughtier sibling features Torchwood’s most unlikely team-up. Rhys and Ianto’s Excellent Barbecue is a unique new story that examines male relationships, raw meat, and paper plates. Kai Owen and Gareth David-Lloyd star as Rhys and Ianto, two Torchwood lads firing up the barbecue for some rest, relaxation and downtime from the endless alien incursions caused by the Cardiff rift.

But it’s not long before things are getting frosty – and not just the beers in the ice box.

Writer Tim Foley said: “We went round the houses with the title, but it’s Rhys and Ianto and they’re having a barbecue, so what more could you want? With a two-hander like this you get to probe the deep waters of these two characters by shoving them together. We get to see what these two people are really like together – not everyone in Torchwood are great friends.”

Actor Kai Owen said: “It’s got everything that I think people want from a Torchwood script. It’s got the crazy, extraordinary elements, plus touching, funny and really moving moments too. It’s going to halt a few people in their tracks.”

Torchwood: Rhys and Ianto’s Excellent Barbecue

Rhys is planning a lads’ night in. Barbie in the back yard, few tins, mates and bants. But the only person who turns up is Ianto – who hasn’t been invited. Hell is other people, especially when they’ve brought board games.

Something goes wrong. The two of them could be trapped together for eternity at a barbecue where the sausages never cook, and worse, the brewskis remain forever out of reach.

Torchwood: Rhys and Ianto’s Excellent Barbecue is now available to own as a collector’s edition CD at £10.99 or on download at £8.99 from www.bigfinish.com

Please note that Torchwood contains more adult material than Doctor Who and may not be suitable for younger listeners.
