Nintendo Wii and DS games on the way

As rumoured some months ago – this post, for example – Doctor Who is to get a video game release on two Nintendo games systems. Return To Earth, for the Wii, and Evacuation Earth, for the DS, are both due for release late October/early November (Amazon states Oct 29, Play says Nov 19). Plans also include launching a remote control unit and stylus shaped like a sonic screwdriver. The title is produced by Asylum Entertainment and will also be released in Australia and Europe. Included here is the cover art and synopses for the games, click on them for bigger versions.

Evacuation Earth
The Doctor and Amy arrive at the Lake District to watch the humans leave the planet. Suddenly the TARDIS gets lifted from them and bolted onto the evacuation ship. They have to make their way onto the ship before it leaves As the ship launches it has technical problems and they realise the Silurians have built a ship underneath. The Doctor finds a solution to make the ship work

Suddenly the Dalek ship smashes into the human one and splits the Silurian half off. It’s the Dalek ship that chased the Time Axis into the sun – they weren’t destroyed, they actually made a random jump several hundred years into the past

The Daleks are pleased that they can exact revenge on the Doctor but first they make him fix their ship. The Doctor goes along with their plan but tricks them into bolting the TARDIS onto their ship, which he promptly jumps into and uses to fling them into the nearest black hole

Return To Earth
The Doctor and Amy help the SS Lucy Gray to return home to Earth, unravelling a Cyber Plot and preventing the Daleks from retrieving a lost Time Axis along the way. The Doctor and Amy arrive on a human colony ship returning to Earth after it was rendered uninhabitable by solar flares. Without provocation they are attacked by the ship’s maintenance robots and become separated in the struggle.

The Doctor is eventually led to the ship’s Head Quarters, where he discovers a Cyber Leader has connected himself to the ships AI and is blackmailing it into doing his bidding, or else he’ll kill the crew. Meanwhile the Cybermen that were hiding in the ship ambush Amy and chase her out into space.

Guide the Doctor and Amy as they face their biggest adventure yet!

  1. I wasn't expecting that! I know they'd suggested that this would happen but that's very much not the same thing. Now we just need them to be even halfway decent.

I suspect some may use the Adventure Games as their yardstick of the potential quality of these titles but due to the different developers involved, that really can't be relied on as a worthwhile comparison.

Asylum Entertainment seem to be one of those go-to companies for VG spinoff titles, adapting things like Ed, Edd n' Eddy and Nancy Drew.

Join me in my prayer for a miracle.

  2. Ok… thank you, Nintendo… but…

Come on… I understand the market – but seriously! A game like this would be AWESOMENESS PERSONIFIED on PS3! My two cents…

  3. is there a source for the marketing info you've posted? I know the games are listed on Amazon, but I don't see where the descriptions for the games have been sourced from. I'm kind of hoping they are not accurate– they give away the plots of the games!

  4. Hardly their biggest adventure yet…. Plus on the Wii….. with all the processing power of a hamster on a wheel…. This is gonna look terrible.

  5. Yeah like the pc games are that big on graphics. Seriously it's doctor who the epitome of casual gameness.

Point and click adventure is what this likely going to be.

Why would a developer want to pour tens of millions into a game that would bomb on the ps3 or xbox 360 or not recover the costs.

Besides real gamers care about gameplay not shiny stuff or plastic looking metal or turd brown skies. Those people who want all games to look like those graphical abominations on the xbox 360 and PS3 are chavs.

  6. Seriously! Please please PLEASE get the WII game to the USA! I swear – my Wii needs to be played – of course beyond the odd netflix cd. LOL.

    Please keep us posted!!
