Big Finish Productions today confirmed the highly-anticipated titles of the next tranche of Torchwood audio adventures due for release from January to April 2022
The Monthly Range of Torchwood audio dramas began in September 2015 and features many of the stars of the hit BBC TV spin-off of Doctor Who which originally ran from 2006-2011. Now synopses and cast details, as well as cover artwork have been unveiled for four new stories upcoming in 2022.
January’s Cadoc Point will find Andy Davidson (Tom Price) exploring the chequered past of his former art teacher, Merl Williams (Gareth Armstrong) after three students go missing. Then Sonny, set to be released in February, follows Rhys Williams (Kai Owen) as he investigates artificially intelligent robot carers for the elderly. Meanwhile in April 2022, Infidel Places features the welcome return of Queen Victoria (Rowena Cooper) in an investigation that takes the monarch to the hallowed halls of Cambridge university. And the fourth release is The Black Knight, in which scientist Lynne Sharman (Safiyya Ingar) and Torchwood member Norton Folgate (Samuel Barnett) face a destructive asteroid. This March release is the replacement for Torchwood Monthly Range adventure #50, Absent Friends.
Torchwood: Cadoc Point by David Llewellyn
Andy’s old art teacher is in trouble. The disappearance of three of his former pupils has brought him some unwelcome attention. The authorities think that there’s a secret in Merl’s past.
Whatever Andy’s suspicions, he discovers that something much older and stranger is hiding in Merl’s past. Clues are scattered through his paintings, and all of them lead to a place called Cadoc Point.
Torchwood: Sonny by Lizzie Hopley
Sonny is the answer to elderly care. Artificially intelligent robot carers placed in old peoples’ homes that mimic the behaviour of their owners.
Only there are rumours that something is wrong with the Sonny units. That they’re too clever. That they are learning too much. Rhys sends his mother into a home to find out. But what will it cost him?
Torchwood: The Black Knight by Lizbeth Myles
A brilliant scientist detects an asteroid destroying any craft entering the Earth’s orbit. Is it protecting the human race or imprisoning it?
Only one person believes her. That person is from Torchwood. Norton Folgate is taking Lynne Sharman on the journey of her life.
Torchwood: Infidel Places by Una McCormack
With demons on the loose and dons bursting into flames, Queen Victoria visits Cambridge on the eve of a historic vote that could change the university forever.
She finds the city a den of suspicion and devil worship. A force from beyond reality is hunting down the university’s leading academics. Her Majesty enlists the help of a gifted young mathematician to save not just the university, but the universe itself.
