  1. I'm not sure if I like it all that much. Obviously I'm going to wait and see it in action but for now, It just looks like a fan-made, less impressive reinvention of something that didn't need to be changed for a good few more years. I get that they're going for the retro/classic style-look but I think the Tardis has been evolving throughout the series in a good way and this just feels like a step back from that :/

  2. My favorite tardis interiors were

    1. The McGann tardis
    2. The wooden set from Tom Baker's one season
    3. Matt Smith seasons 5-7.

I think this new set looks like a step in the wrong direction. It doesn't look very aesthetically pleasing. I'm very surprised the set got changed. I don't think anyone even complained about the last one?

  3. I LOVe this new TARDIS.. I like the colour better the design ism ore classic and I think it is gorgeous!!! Yea role on 2013!!!! 50 years…

  4. I’m afraid to say, on inital reaction without seeing it in operation on screen. I don’t like it, I preferred the original Matt had. Why the need to change it, now?
I have the same sinking feeling when I saw the newly designed Daleks. (Well if it doesn’t go down well they can always say this design is the secondary console room.)
But hey, that’s my personal taste.
    On with the adventures };-{)>

  5. Hmm. Not a fan yet. It seems, at first glance, depthless compared to the previous, which was made vast and mysterious with the glass floor and staircases. Don't much care for the new colour scheme either. Maybe it'll look better in action though!

  6. Not sure what to think about this. I'm sure it'll look better depending on how the set is how and used in episodes – but the term "magical" isn't exactly the one I'd use to describe this type of colour scheme.

The new set is a bit too metallic and depressing for me… Though I do think the new console looks fab and I like the new time rotor – the previous glass sculpture one was one of the only things I disliked about the previous interior.

It's also worth noting that this one is smaller – probably due to having a smaller budget this time round. But I'll wait until Christmas to make a proper judgement, of course!

  7. As a 50th anniversary gimmick I'm completely fine with it. If this new look becomes the status quo I'm decidedly less ok with the change.

Because then it feels like they're mining the nostalgia of the past rather the moving the show forward.

And when a show relies too heavily on fan nostalgia its pretty much admitting they're out of new ideas.

  8. As a fan since the 80s, I let out a quiet but appreciative squee when I first saw it. Yes, it lacks the glitz and depth we've become accustomed to. However. the best thing about the old, more intimate control rooms is that you can't get away from your companions so easily while traveling, unless you go elsewhere in the TARDIS. So, here's hoping there is more of 'Sexy' to explore this year, at the expense of a more lavish ante room.

  10. One of the rules you need to know when dealing with people is:

    1. when people dislike something, they complain.
    2. when they like something, they say nothing at all.

No-one said anything about the Eleventh Doctor's console room for his first 3 years. That's how you know it was a very good design and people liked it.

This new one is a downgrade. its almost ugly.

Ranking the console rooms of the new series:

    1. Matt Smith's glass floor design
    2. The new DULL grey design.
    3. Coral – ugh, need I say more? That thing lacked any sense of style.

  11. For me at least the glass floor tardis echoed the Great Glass Elevator from Willie Wonka. It had the same sort of "Steampunk Cool". Glass floor TARDIS will be missed. It was gone too soon.

  12. Back to the classic buttons and switches and away from the steam punk junk stuck to the console. The room is smaller because the studio it is housed in noted is smaller than where they used to have the console room.

I like what I'm seeing though can't wait to see it in action
