Today sees the release of the first teaser picture for the Doctor Who spin-off series ‘Class’.
The picture shows one of the shows stars, teacher Katherine Kelly holding a mean piece of alien fighting tech. We know that ‘Class’ is set inside Coal Hill School, hence that blackboard and brainy equations but there is also that subtle touch of the TARDIS with an appearance of the ’round things’ surrounding said blackboard.
This brand new 8-part series from YA writer Patrick Ness will air in October on BBC Three.
About Class
‘Class’ is set in the fictional Coal Hill School, London where incredible dangers are breaking through the walls of time and space. With darkness coming, London is unprotected. With all the action, heart and adrenalin of the best YA fiction (Buffy, Hunger Games), this is Coal Hill School and Doctor Who like you’ve never seen it before.
Coal Hill School, which has long been a fixture in the world of Doctor Who, made its first appearance in the very first episode of the Doctor Who. Susan, the First Doctor’s granddaughter, was a student at Coal Hill back in 1963. Coal Hill reappeared in modern times when Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman) began her teaching career. Her maths teacher boyfriend Danny Pink, also worked there. The school is also featured in several episodes with Peter Capaldi, the Twelfth Doctor including Series 9 season opener, The Magician’s Apprentice.
