BlogtorWho is sad to report the news that Neil Fingleton passed away yesterday at the age of only 36.

Although his name may not be instantly recognisable he made a huge impression in Doctor Who during 2015. The 7 foot 7 inch tall basketball player turned actor dominated the frame as the Fisher King in ‘Before the Flood’. Whilst other voice actors Peter Serafinowicz and Corey Taylor from metal band ‘Slipknot’ provided the vocals it was Fingleton’s stature inside the impressive costume of the Fisher King which brought the villain to life.

Officially declared the tallest man in the U.K. by Guinness World Records in 2007, Fingleton’s height had lent itself well to basketball but also to television and movies. In addition to appearances on programmes including ‘Russell Howard’s Good News’, ‘Superhumans: Giants’ and ‘Pointless Celebrities’, Fingleton was also widely known for playing Mag the Mighty in American smash hit ‘Game of Thrones’. On the big screen Fingleton contributed to movies ’47 Ronin’, ‘Jupiter Ascending’ and ‘X-Men: First Class’. He also contributed to the motion capture process used to bringing Ultron to the screen for ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’.
Despite a career that took him around the world Neil Fingleton passed away in his home county of Durham. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends at this difficult time.
