Audio Publishers Association (APA) announced its 22nd annual Audie Awards yesterday and Big Finish is among the finalists.
‘Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor Adventures: Death and the Queen’ created by James Goss earned the nomination in Audio Drama category. This 2016 story is part of Big Finish’s Tenth Doctor Adventures which saw the return of David Tennant and Catherine Tate.
The Tenth Doctor story is joined in the Audio Drama category by ‘Doctor Who: The War Doctor: Only The Monstrous’ written by Nicholas Briggs and narrated by the late Sir John Hurt and Jacqueline Pearce. ‘Only The Monstrous’ is the first of four box sets featuring the adventures of the War Doctor and the Time War. Series 4 ‘Casualties of War‘ will be released sometime in February 2017.
Both Doctor Who productions are up against ‘Alien: Out of the Shadows’, ‘In the Embers’, and ‘The Mountaintop’.
Tenth Doctor David Tennant is also nominated for his narration of the popular ‘How to Train Your Dragon: How to Fight a Dragon’s Fury’ in the Middle Grade category. ‘How To Fight a Dragon’s Fury’ is the final novel in a twelve-volume series created by novelist Cressida Cowell.
2017 Audie Awards takes place on Thursday, 1st June starting at 6:30PM at French Institute Alliance Francaise (FIAF) in New York. The Audie Awards recognise distinction in audiobooks and spoken word entertainment.
