It is no secret that Edgar Wright is a huge Doctor Who fan. He has professed in many interviews how he would love to write an episode of the show. Fans often mention it’d be great to see an episode directed by him. He even posted on Twitter a picture of himself with a Sontaran, taken whilst attending a Doctor Who convention, aged nine.

After the success of Baby Driver, he is very much on a roll with his film career, and his next film looks equally exciting. So, while he may not be directing any upcoming Doctor Who we can take solace in the fact that he will be working with former Doctor Who in the shape of Eleventh Doctor Matt Smith.

Smith has been busy building his Hollywood career since leaving Doctor Who. He has upcoming roles as Charles Manson in Charlie Says, as well as appearing in the MCU and Star Wars.

Wright’s new film, Last Night in Soho, has been described as a horror/psychological thriller. It is also set to star Anya Taylor-Joy and Thomasin Harcourt Mackenzie. It will shoot this summer, and will be released in 2020.
