It is Christmas time and it is definitely the time that many of us think about those less fortunate. Doctor Who star Mandip Gill has teamed up with Percelle Ascott (who plays Delph in the Doctor Who finale) to raise money for Shelter, the charity supporting the homeless
The charity Shelter has supported the homeless in the UK since 1966, making them almost as old as Doctor Who. Shelter is completely depend on donations from the public to provide its services for those in need. This year they are holding the Sleep Walk for Shelter through London. Taking place at 7pm on Wednesday the 5th of December, the 10k walk is a huge fund raising effort designed to bring aid to the estimated 300,000 homeless people in the UK. Participants will walk from Liverpool Street to Waterloo and fundraise through sponsorship for their walk.
Among those taking part is Yaz actor Mandip Gill, who will be walking together with her Battle of Ranskoor Av Kolos co-star Percelle Ascott. The two have set up a JustGiving page for those who want to support them.
Blogtor Who encourages you to give your support by clicking the link below and donating what you can. Even £1 will make a difference and enable the charity to continue its work helping society’s most vulnerable.

Prior to Doctor Who Gill and Ascott appeared in a number of episodes of Doctors together, as well as starring together in the powerful short film RWD/FWD, about recrimination and regret. They set an initial target of £200 but have already far surpassed that. Currently their fundraising stands at around £750, but every additional donation will help more people.
Additionally, it’s not too late to register to take part in the Sleep Walk itself.
Registration for the Sleep Walk is still open and you register at Shelter’s page here:

And if you need more reason than that, the Sleep Walk takes in a host of iconic Doctor Who locations. Take in the sights of the Globe (The Shakespeare Code), St. Paul’s Cathedral (The Invasion, Death in Heaven), and the National Portrait Gallery (The Day of the Doctor) as part of a unique night time walking experience in aid of those most in need. After all, what would the Doctor do?
