Doctor Who’s Karen Gillan is heading to Apple+ to join Harrison Ford and Jason Segel in hit dramedy Shrinking

Doctor Who star Karen Gillan has joined the cast of Shrinking for Season Four next year. The actor, who played companion Amy Pond opposite Matt Smith’s Doctor for three series, is the latest addition to the Apple+ dramedy. The series stars Jason Segel and Harrison Ford as therapists breaching ethical guidelines to help their patients make breakthroughs as they deal with their own life changing problems. Whether Gillan is playing a new therapist at the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Center or a new client is still unknown. However, we do know that Season 4 will take place after a substantial time jump from this year’s season, and feature an entirely new arc plot for the show. Season Three ended with major life changes for many of the characters, so it’s not clear yet how Gillan’s will fit into their new situations.

Demonic possessions, immortal swordsmen, royal intrigue and more  video game action also all feature in Gillan’s upcoming projects

Karen Gillan continues to be one of Doctor Who’s most prolific alumna. Shrinking is just one of several projects fans in which fans will be able to see her over the next year or so. Later this year she’ll back in the game as Ruby Roundhouse in Jumanji: Open World. After that, she’ll also be starring in horror movie Blasphemous, described as ‘The Exorcist meets Training Day‘ as a demonically possessed killer battling two priests played by Clive Owen and Josh Hutcherson.

Meanwhile, Gillan has a major supporting role in the new remake of Highlander, also out next year. There she’ll be Heather, first love of Henry Cavill’s Conor Macleod as he’s trained in the ways of the immortals by Russell Crowe’s Rameriez. Finally for now, as Blogtor Who previously reported, the Scottish actor will star as Queen Mary Tudor in Fools, as she and her fool (Patsy Ferran) try to protect themselves from the sinister political forces around them.
