Here is a limited, limited release that every fan is going to want to have. In fact, demand is so strong that fans are only permitted to purchase three of this fabulous new Doctor Who POP! vinyl figure. Who in the Doctor Who universe could command such appreciation, such devotion?
It’s that beloved companion, K-9! Based on the Mark 1 version it’s hard not to be impressed. This 9 cm tall figure is just as adorable and practical as the original. It’s frankly irresistible.
K-9 was the charming assistant/mobile computer of the Fourth Doctor, Tom Baker, and two companions, Leela, and Sarah Jane Smith. The Doctor Who history tells us that K-9 was made by a Professor Marius in the year 5000. Professor Marius and K-9 appeared in Season 15 of the original Doctor Who series, in an episode called The Invisible Enemy. The professor worked for the Bi-Al Foundation, as a specialist who studies extraterrestrial pathological endomorphisms. The Professor was not allowed to bring his own dog to his research facility, so he builds a brilliant pooch named K-9 to be his friend and research assistant. When the Doctor and Leela meet the Professor, he helps them defeat an enemy called The Swarm and the Nucleus. After a series of incredible adventures, the Professor, Leela and the Doctor all survive, and Professor Marius gives them K-9 as a companion for their future adventures.
Best of all, there might be more K-9 to meet and admire. Steven Moffat is a fan, and he said last year, ‘I love K-9!’, adding, ‘I had a whole scene where the Doctor was pointing out how ludicrous Santa Claus is, having a reindeer with a glowing nose and so on… and then in comes K-9.’
