At San Diego Comic-Con on Friday, John Barrowman revealed that he has begun talks to get ‘Torchwood’ back on the air.
Barrowman, who starred as Captain Jack Harkness on Doctor Who and Torchwood, is encouraging fans to show their support of the spin-off.
The Doctor Who spin-off series featured fan favourite Captain Jack Harkness as the leader of a Torchwood. The team was organised to protect humanity and the Earth from alien attack. Since its end in 2011, many fans having been hoping to see a reboot and Barrowman very much shares this sentiment.
“I have already set the ball rolling to get ‘Torchwood’ back,” the actor announced in an interview with Comic-Con HQ. “I have a first telephone conversation on Monday about moving it forward to see how we can get it back on television.”
Barrowman said fans could show their support by purchasing the new Torchwood series he and his sister Carole E. Barrowman are releasing through Titan Comics. He explained with enough interest he believed the show could return, saying, “The fans know me well enough… I’m only going to say it if I mean it and believe it.”
The Titan Comics Torchwood series just released its first chapter as a Comic Con exclusive through their SDCC booth. In addition, a new series of Torchwood audio dramas are being released from Big Finish with John Barrowman and Gareth David-Lloyd returning as Jack and Ianto.
