Doctor Who star John Barrowman has returned to the jungle following an incident on the set of ITV reality show I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!
John Barrowman was shown being carted off to hospital following an incident in the I’m A Celeb jungle in last night’s episode of the show. At the start of Sunday night’s edition of popular ITV reality show I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! hosts Dec Donnelly and Holly Willoghby informed the viewers that Doctor Who actor John Barrowman had been injured in an incident.
ITV suspended his place in the program pending medical advice and offered to refund his supporters who voted for him before he was taken to hospital after he slipped on a path while carrying a heavy pot to be cleaned in the creek.
Barrowman was helped to the medical hut by TV handyman Nick Knowles and Hollyoakes actor Malique Thompson-Dwyer where the show’s medics recommended that Barrowman went to hospital for an x-ray.
The irrepressible Barrowman reportedly sent his fellow camp mates a message saying, “I am lying here sipping champagne in a hospital with six male strippers. Continue to live jungle life as normal. I want to be back in there with you all soon. But please get some rest this evening. Ps I want my f****** dinner when I get back!” The campmates’ reaction goes unreported at the time of writing.
The I’m A Celeb programme makers said, “John Barrowman sustained a sprain to his ankle but is now back in the jungle.”
The Mirror online reports that Barrowman suffered a severe sprain, but thankfully no broken bones. So now our favourite camp mate can go back to his quest to be King AND Queen of the Jungle! Fabulous!
The ITV program involves celebrities living together in the Australian jungle, while performing tasks to earn food for the camp. In addition, they compete against each other for the public’s vote to avoid eviction. Ultimately they compete to be crowned King or Queen of the Jungle. Barrowman entered the jungle sixteen days ago and has competed in several challenges. His heroics have included climbing on frames over a cliff edge and pushing a row boat across a lake by swim power alone. Another challenge saw him dive into a sunken ship filled with twenty crocodiles to recover stars and win meals for his camp mates. (Yes, they were real crocodiles but they were relatively small ones.)
Blogtor Who extends our best wishes to Barrowman and wish him a speedy recovery. As a vital and enthusiastic ambassador for the Doctor Who family, we can’t wait to see him back at his best on the show. He has been greatly enjoying his time in the jungle, and was an early favourite to win. His husband Scott Gill, and his parents John Sr and Marion have been in Australia supporting John. So they are fortunately on hand during his hospital stay.
I’m a Celebrity airs on ITV at 9pm GMT daily.
