Christmas is going to be a busy time for Jodie Whittaker. She will be making her first appearance as the 13th Doctor in Christmas special Twice Upon a Time. But before that, on Christmas Eve, she will be presenting a special show on BBC 6 Music.
Over the festive period, BBC 6 has a trilogy of shows airing under the name ‘Three Wise Women’. Each show sees a different female presenter curate their own playlist based on a specific theme. Other hosts include pop singer Beth Ditto, and actress/writer Sharon Horgan. The shows take place on consecutive nights over Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
From 6pm to 2am on each night the celebrity hosts will play their favourite tracks from the 6 music archive. The 13th Doctor is up first and will be presenting her top tunes on Christmas Eve. Jodies’ playlist revolves around the theme of travel. I’m sure every Doctor Who fan will be looking for hints of time travel in there as well.
Jodie is a big fan of the station. “I’m absolutely over the moon to be asked to be a part of this year’s three Wise Women,” she said. “I’ve never been called a wise woman before, but I’ll take it! Maybe even print up a t-shirt!”
“It’s been brilliant revisiting shows that I loved listening to the first time round and also getting to choose two hours worth of my favourite tracks, most of which I discovered through listening to 6 Music. So thanks for that, and hope you enjoy it.”
The show will be a perfect introduction to the actress behind the next Doctor. What better way to warm up to the main event of Twice Upon a Time on Christmas Day?
Twice Upon a Time is the final episode for Peter Capaldi’s Doctor before he regenerates. It is also the last episode for lead writer and executive producer Steven Moffat. Chris Chibnall, Doctor Who’s new showrunner, will take over from Moffat at the end of the Christmas special.
Listen to Jodies’s playlist from 6pm Christmas Eve on BBC 6 Music.
