The Thirteenth Doctor is heading to next month’s London Comic Con Winter! She joins a star studded Doctor Who line-up
It was already looking to be an epic weekend for Doctor Who fans, but London Comic Con Winter has just added another massive name: Jodie Whittaker! It will be the actor’s first convention appearance after her farewell performance in next week’s The Power of the Doctor. As such it will be a very special opportunity to hear her discuss her exit in person for the very first time. You can also expect lots of discussion of the end of Thasmin, and working with Ace and Tegan stars Sophie Aldred and Janet Fielding. And, yes, that inevitable Big Finish question is bound to be asked at some point too. Whittaker will be appearing alongside the previously announced David Tennant, Matt Smith, Colin Baker, and Sylvester McCoy.
Whittaker, like Tennant, will only be appearing on the Sunday. Conversely, Smith and Baker will only be at the convention for the Saturday, so there’ll be no chance of the ‘Five Doctors’ happening. Though Sylvester McCoy will be on hand both days.
There will also be a chance to get photos with Tennant, Whittaker and McCoy together
The outgoing Doctor will also be taking part in a number of photo opportunities with fans on the Sunday. As well as a chance to have a standard photo with her, there’s also be a ‘TARDIS greenscreen’ photo (though with even phone apps having powerful ‘Remove Background’ functions these days, that does seem a little redundant.) But, excitingly, there’ll also be two Doctor Who group photo sessions featuring Whittaker. She’ll be appearing alongside her predecessor (or should that be successor, it’s all a bit confusing for the moment) David Tennant for photos. And both of them will also be taking part in photo opportunity alongside fellow Doctor, Sylvester McCoy. McCoy will also be in another special photo op event on the Saturday alongside Matt Smith and Colin Baker.
Entry tickets to the convention on Sunday start from £21. First time convention goers should be aware, though, that autographs and photographs are additional, starting at £75 in Jodie Whittaker’s case (and £95 for David Tennant, £100 for Matt Smith, and £20 each for Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy.)
London Comic Con Winter takes place at the Olympia in London on the 19th and 20th of November. Full details and tickets are on their official site.
