She’s travelled the universe as Clara Oswald and ruled the country as Queen Victoria. But The Cry might be Jenna Coleman’s biggest transformation to date.

In these newly released photos, we get our best glimpse yet at Jenna Coleman’s new look for the role. She plays Joanna, a young mother whose life is turned upside down when her child is abducted in Australia. Jenna, sporting blonde hair rather than her usual brown, looks just as devastated and bereft as you’d expect.

The Cry is a new four-part psychological drama based on Helen FitzGerald’s bestselling book of the same name. The story focuses on the impact that the abduction has on Joanna’s family and marriage as they face the scrutiny of the media. Ewen Leslie also stars alongside Jenna, playing Joanna’s husband Alister.

To coincide with these new photos, it’s been announced that The Cry will stream on MC Networks’ Sundance Now streaming service. Jan Diedrichsen, general manager of Sundance Now, said: “The Cry is exactly the sort of top-quality, psychological thriller that our discerning audience craves, and we are excited to be the exclusive home of The Cry in the US.”
