Planet Comicon has arrived in the American heartland, and for three days in May, fans can meet two Doctor Who companions and a member of the Torchwood inner circle. Jenna Coleman (Clara), Arthur Darvill (Rory), and Eve Myles (Gwen Cooper from Torchwood) are all scheduled to appear in Kansas City over the weekend of the 22-25 May
Eleventh and twelfth Doctor companion Jenna Coleman left Doctor Who during series 9 to pursue other projects. She is currently filming the title role in ITV’s drama Victoria due to air later this year on ITV.
While Arthur Darvill who starred as Rory Williams, husband to companion Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) and companion to Eleventh Doctor Matt Smith is currently featuring as Rip Hunter, the star of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. Since his time on Doctor Who Darvill has also appeared in the BBC miniseries The White Queen, and worked alongside Tenth Doctor David Tennant in series one and two of the ITV crime drama Broadchurch.
Since Torchwood went dormant award-winning Welsh actress Eve Myles has also gone on to appear in the second series of Broadchurch alongside Tennant and Olivia Coleman. As well appearances in the BBC drama’s Frankie and Moving On. Myles recently announced that she would no longer be playing Gwen, so this Planet Comicon appearance gives fans a chance to find out what Myles will be doing next.
Planet Comicon is Kansas City’s largest comic book convention, and this year’s event will be its biggest in its 17-year history. Fans will be able get autographs, cosplay, meet artists, there will be plenty of merchandise to buy, and the ubiquitous Stan Lee will be on hand.
