Taking place on 4 – 5 June 2016, Genesis sees a welcome return to the Doctor Who fan conventions of years ago from the creator of the original ‘Dimensions on Tyne’.
As the name suggests, the organisers of Genesis promise an event that’s all about getting back to basics and starting things from the very beginning,
Staying with the format they originally ran in events 12 years ago, the plan is to make the event both affordable and relaxed. Bringing in a nice balance of guests, new and old, as well as all those little touches that make fan run conventions a pleasure to attend.
The guest list is an impressive one. Fourth Doctor Tom Baker will be putting in an appearance via videolink (cue choir of angels singing) for a panel Q&A hosted by Louise Jameson.
From the very earliest days of Doctor Who, there are some especially wonderful guests. There’s original Director, Waris Hussein, and original companions, Carol Ann Ford (Susan) and William Russell (Ian Chesterton).
The Doctors enemies are well represented at Genesis, too. Former Master and Big Finish stalwart Geoffrey Beevers will appear as well as former Davros, Terry Molloy. There’s also John Davey and Jamie Hill from modern Who, who have played some iconic monsters, including Cybermen, The Silence and The Mire among many others.

Saturday evening features Simon Fisher-Becker’s one man show “My Dalek Has A Puncture.” The event will also have plenty of other goodies on offer – Free autograph sessions, onstage discussion panels, merchandise dealers, prop displays and photo shoots, a Guest Photo Studio and free evening entertainment.
