The Ponds head back to Utah for a family reunion at Fan X this September

The Fan X convention in Salt Lake City is getting the Ponds back together. Karen Gillan, Arthur Darvill, and Alex Kingston will all be attending the con, which takes place the 21st-23rd of September. The trio, who played the Doctor’s companions Amy Pond and Rory Williams, and their daughter River Song, will be attending on the Thursday and Friday of the convention. And fans will have the chance to meet up with all three for a special Doctor Who family portrait both days.

Travelling with the Doctor in three series between 2010 and 2012 before a genuinely traumatic departure in The Angels Take Manhattan, Amy and Rory are some of 21st century Doctor Who’s most beloved companions. Meanwhile, River Song’s storyline twisted and turned through time from her death in Series Four’s Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead to one last night with the Doctor in 2016’s The Husbands of River Song. Along the way we also saw River’s birth, and the stunning revelation that she and Amy and Rory’s new born baby Melody were one and the same.

 

Fan X takes place in Salt Lake City this September

The Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, plays host to Fan X this year. And it’s an appropriate location for this Pond family reunion, with Utah providing the filming location for one of their most dramatic escapades. It was the state’s Lake Powell that stood in for Lake Silencio, the site of the Doctor’s apparent death, in Series Five’s The Impossible Astronaut.

Tickets for Fan X are on sale now, starting at $50 for a three day multipass. Full details of the other guests, including many from the world of Star Trek, Charmed, superheroes and more, as well as updates on events taking place across the three days, are available on the Fan X site. You can expect all the usual fun, from panels to cosplay. Plus, Blogtor Who imagines, this time you can also expect several impossible astronauts and Silents stalking the convention floor.
