The trailer for Karen Gillan’s new action packed film, Gunpowder Milkshake, has been released
Thanks to her roles in the likes of the Marvel and Jumanji films Karen Gillan’s post-Doctor Who career has made her one of the most bankable stars today. And this week Netflix and StudioCanal released the trailer for her latest project – the high octane action thriller Gunpowder Milkshake. The former Amy Pond takes on the central role of Sam, a highly skilled hitwoman with a problem. When she unwittingly accepts a contract that involves killing an eight year old girl, her hit becomes a rescue mission instead. Soon there’s an army of assassins on their tail, determined to make sure they don’t make it through the night. And Sam has only one place she can turn. Someone she thought she’d never see again – her mother Scarlet (Lena Headey).
Gunpowder Milkshake an all-star cast including Carla Gugino, Angela Bassett and Michelle Yeoh as a sisterhood of assassin librarians, and Paul Giamatti as the mob boss who makes the mistake of crossing them.
Gunpowder Milkshake is part of a busy schedule for Gillan, with three other films already in post-production
The film arrives on Netflix in the United States on the 14th of July. The international distribution rights are held by StudioCanal but no UK release date has been set. Suggesting possibly that StudioCanal still hold some hope of a cinema release as the United Kingdom exits lockdown. In the meantime, Gillan’s career since Doctor Who shows no sign of slowing down. She’s already filmed three more appearances as Nebula for Marvel. The morally grey (and literally blue) alien warrior will be appearing in the movies Thor: Love and Thunder and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, as well as an episode of What If…? While The Bubble takes a wry look at the pandemic, as Gillan and her co-stars, including Pedro Pascal, Keegan Michael-Key, Leslie Mann, and David Duchovny desperately try and complete a film amid social distancing and PPE, while forced to bubble together in one hotel.
