Set your temporal co-ordinates! Blogtor Who has the exact time to set down your leftover Turkey sandwiches and tune in the Doctor’s great escape!
Just days after having it confirmed Doctor Who would be once again in the New Year’s Day slot, we now know when exactly on the day it will air. The duration, too, has also been announced by the BBC as part of the Christmas schedule. Revolution of the Daleks will air at 6.45GMT on BBC One on New Year’s Day. And it will be an epic 75 minutes long. This makes it the longest special since the 50th Anniversary’s The Day of the Doctor, which came it at 77 minutes. So strap yourself in for even more Captain Jack than you expected! Meanwhile, it had already been announced that it will air on BBC America in the US at 8pm ET the same day.
As Blogtor Who covered this week, Revolution of the Daleks sees the Doctor’s friends Yaz, Graham and Ryan team up with her erstwhile companion Captain Jack Harkness. Against them is egomaniacal billionaire Jack Robertson (Chris Noth) and his latest scheme – DALEKS! But with the Doctor spending 2020 in solitary confinement (oh, the irony) in an alien prison, can they possibly win the day? Whatever happens, with that 75 minute time slot, we can expect huge drama ahead.
The festive period will also see Bradley Walsh presenting Blankety Blank and Peter Davison in Call the Midwife
Doctor Who will be the lead in to a special hour long EastEnders for New Year’s Day. Meanwhile, on Christmas Day, Bradley Walsh will be regenerating classic game show Blankety Blank at 7pm. And that will be followed by a Call the Midwife Christmas special at 7.40pm. Guest starring none other that the Fifth Doctor himself, Peter Davison!
While it’s hard to believe that it’s only nine months today since Jodie Whittaker’s Time Lord last graced our screen, the wait for the Doctor to come and save the day is almost over!
