After much speculation and mysterious marketing, the premiere date for the upcoming series of Doctor Who has finally been announced!

Over the past few days, we’ve started to see an increase in promotion for the upcoming new series of Doctor Who, all leading to today’s announcement of its release date. Wednesday (6th October) saw a Sontaran ship in the skies above Liverpool, the city where we’ll soon meet the Doctor’s latest companion Dan Lewis (played by John Bishop).

Following that, just over 24 hours ago, all of Doctor Whos official social media accounts were deactivated, along with the show’s official website. In the meantime, fans have spotted a glitched message from the Doctor in between adverts in billboards in locations such as Liverpool and London. There’s also been sightings of other advertisements asking the public to report sightings of the aforementioned Sontaran ship to a phone number which, when dialled, takes you through to the Doctor’s own voicemail.

Now, the official Doctor Who social media channels have finally returned, bringing with them a new teaser trailer, along with confirmation that Series 13 will premiere on Sunday 31st October.

The brand-new series appears to be officially titled Doctor Who: Flux. This ties into showrunner Chris Chibnall‘s previous statement at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con that this series would consist of one over-arching story, with each of its six episodes forming a chapter of that story.

Doctor Who: Flux also looks set to bring with it a number of returning monsters for the Doctor to face off against. Today’s latest teaser video sees her make reference to SontaransWeeping Angels, and creatures known as the Ravagers, all of which have been brought here by ‘the Flux‘.

Doctor Who: Flux will premiere on Sunday 31st October, starring Jodie Whittaker as the Doctor, alongside Mandip Gill as Yaz, John Bishop as Dan, plus Jacob Anderson as Vinder.
