Doctor Who: Season One is yours to own from August, with covers and disc details now available

Doctor Who: Season One arrives on DVD, Blu-ray, and Steelbook formats on the 12th of August, and the covers are now available. In addition, the full breakdown of the seven disc set is here. In addition to the eight episodes of the season, and the previously released Church on Ruby Road, it reveals a full complement of Doctor Who: Unleashed episodes and previously online exclusives. These include the in-vision commentaries for the episodes The Church on Ruby Road, Boom, and Empire of Death. Also on the set is Tales of the TARDIS: Pyramids of Mars. The Fourth Doctor story in which the Time Lord first battled Sutekh for the fate of all life appears in a special hour long edit with modern special effects. It also features a new cameo appearance by Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson, as the Doctor recounts the tale to Ruby aboard the Remembered TARDIS.

Fans will still likely have to wait some time for any 4K and North American releases

The Steelbook cover features gorgeous new exclusive art by Lee Binding. In contrast, the DVD and Blu-ray editions unfortunately have covers using one of the less loved promotional images for the season. However the contents remains identical across all three formats. Sadly, despite Doctor Who now being made in UHD there’s no sign of a 4K release. This may be because the 4K home video format is region free, while these editions are for Blu-ray Region B (Europe, Africa, Middle East, Australia, and New Zealand) or DVD Region 2 (Europe, Middle East, Egypt, Japan, South Africa, Swaziland, Lesotho, French overseas territories, Greenland) only. There’s no word either on them becoming available in other regions. With most Disney+ shows remaining streaming exclusives for 2-3 years after first dropping, international Doctor Who fans in other regions will likely be facing a further wait.
